Closet Organization

Now that we are enjoying milder weather, it is time to bring out my spring and summer wardrobe.  I decided to replace all of my hangers with these velvet lined ones I found at Superstore and Dollarama.  Not only do the pieces stay on the hangers - no more slipping off - I can also fit so much more in my closet.  I also love the clean and uniform look it provides which also makes it easier to choose my outfits!

I was fortunate to already have shelving installed in my closet which made it easy to organize my shoes.  Having them all lined up in categories - day pumps, flats, and evening shoes - again makes it easy to find exactly what I am looking for.

And finally jewellery!  I have this organizer that I found at Home Sense hanging on the inside of my closet door and it makes finding the perfect necklace, bracelets or earrings a breeze.

Being organized makes my life so much easier as it allows me the time to enjoy the things that I really love to do - spending time creating memories with those I love.

I love coastal style.  It is so fun, bright, fresh and makes everybody feel happy.
Here are some fun ways to add some "beach" style to your space!

A display of starfish and sand dollars...

Glass apothecary jars filled with a selection of shells...

A beautiful conch shell on display...

A candle in a glass vase filled with shells...

A beautiful potted orchid....

All of these items can be found locally.  I have found coastal treasures at Micheals, Home Sense, These Four Walls, Lake Life and even Dollarama!!!

Anthropologie is one of my favourite stores.  I am so happy that we now have one in Winnipeg conveniently located in Polo Park.  Visiting the store is more of an artistic experience than a shopping adventure.  I love to linger and admire each vignette and display.  From the lovely selection of books, to the beautiful accessories, housewares and candles, linens, lotions and soaps to the beautiful clothing....there is so much to soak in!

Here are a few treasure that I found today.....

Royal Apothic 22 flowers scented protecting day hand creme with SPF....
Smiths Rosebud Salve - a staple in our house....
A beautiful seaside inspired barrette with shells and starfish...
And Screen Cleansing cloths!!

I can't wait for my next visit!!!

I found this beautiful glass vase - in the form of a sea turtle - at an estate sale.  I absolutely love anything to do with the ocean, the coast, the beach….etc so I was immediately drawn to it.

I think it holds these pretty pink peonies perfectly!!! Say that 3 times fast!!!

Cookbooks…..I love cookbooks! Particularly those that are unique in approach and paired with beautiful photography and illustrations.  Here is my latest find….

As I have a daughter who is vegetarian, I am always looking for new and creative ways to appease her palette. Written by a very interesting woman who grew up on an apple orchard in Sonoma County, California in the 1980s, she approaches food in a very natural way.  She is a self taught cook.  Her recipes are simple and based on local and sustainable food as much as possible.

I'd like to share with you a couple of recipes from the book that will be the first I will try!!

Don't these look so tasty!!!!

Breaded Leeks…..divine!!

I am so looking forward to trying these recipes……unique new ways of preparing food!
